James F. Mundy, Esq., of Philadelphia, chair of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court's Special Commission to Limit Campaign Expenditures, will release the Commission's recommendations during a news conference to be held Thursday, April 16, at 10 a.m. in the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts, 1515 Market St., Suite 1414, in Philadelphia. Following the formal presentation of the Commission's report and recommendations, Mundy will be available to answer questions. The Commission was created by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court this past September to explore all facets of the state's judicial campaigns, but the major focus was on determining possible ways of putting a cap on the skyrocketing cost of running for judicial seats in the Commonwealth. Since then the Commission has held public hearings in Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, Erie, Wilkes-Barre and Philadelphia; traveled to Ohio to meet with officials from that state's Supreme Court and Bar Association; commissioned a statewide poll combining the efforts of two national pollsters; and observed a presentation by representatives of both polling groups. The Commission's eight formal recommendations are contained in the "Report of the Special Commission to Limit Campaign Expenditures."
