Berks County Judge Celebrates Valentines Day with All-Day Weddings

February 14, 2025
Today, Berks County Magisterial District Judge Eric Taylor is continuing what has become a heartfelt tradition in his Reading courtroom. On Valentines Day, Judge Taylor clears his regular docket and dedicates the entire day to officiating wedding ceremonies.
Weddings will be held almost every half hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a total of 10 ceremonies expected to take place throughout the day.
“As a judge, almost every matter before me has opposing parties and, as is the nature of court cases, these parties can be quite contentious,” Judge Taylor said. “Officiating wedding ceremonies is one of the happiest things I do, because both parties agree with what I am doing — uniting them in marriage.”
“I got the idea of doing Valentine’s Day weddings from another Berks County District Judge, and I have done this for a few years now. Valentine’s Day symbolizes love, and I think the best way to celebrate this day is by uniting couples who love each other in marriage.”
