Update on the Unified Judicial System Web Portal
News Article
February 08, 2021
In 2001, the AOPC, through its Unified Judicial System (UJS) Web Portal, began providing the public with access to appellate court docket sheets. In the 20 years since the portal’s introduction, numerous UJS applications and services have been released to the public including Common Pleas and Magisterial District docket sheets, PAePay® (online payments of court fees and obligations), PACFile® (electronic filing of court documents), and GTS (an online report filing system for court appointed guardians).
Today, the AOPC Information Technology department is working on a multi-year portal technology modernization effort to ensure the continued availability of existing applications, to better support modern web browsers and mobile devices, and to lay the groundwork for future applications. The first phase of this initiative will be released on Tuesday, February 9th, 2021.
The initial release provides an improved user experience in the form of a simplified navigational structure, and the consolidation of docket sheet and case calendar information into one search screen. System users will be able to search and retrieve information for cases across three levels of court (appellate, Common Pleas criminal and Magisterial District courts) from a single search screen. Additional enhancements include the ability to filter search results by designated case characteristics, or to organize the results in ascending or descending order by any of these attributes.
To minimize disruption to users, all existing web browser bookmarks that point to the portal’s docket sheet and calendars search pages in place today will be redirected to the enhanced search until the end of 2021.
