Description

This is a supervisory and advanced technical position responsible for programming, customizing, installing, commissioning, repairing, and operating building automation systems and related devices. Direct responsibilities cover about 61,000 square feet of space across four locations. Reports to the Facilities Administrator.

Primary Duties

  • Monitors, supports, and maintains data center physical infrastructure (20,000+ data points), including power distribution systems, chilled water systems, and other key facilities systems in multiple data centers. Ensures that problems are identified and repaired quickly; responds to environmental performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures.
  • Ensures parameters in service agreements related to environmental and operating conditions are met, i.e. temperature controls, power conditioning, emergency power, security, leak detection, roof deflection, fire protection, etc. Enlist vendors to repair and maintain systems when needed.
  • Serves as liaison to IT Department. Understands their operations and priorities; communicates problems and status updates; participates in project meetings.
  • Supports control and monitoring systems; responds to alerts on data center systems and manages configurations.
  • Collaborates with colleagues on various projects, i.e. contract renewals, maintenance, and equipment upgrades.
  • Coordinates employee and vendor work in data centers and ensures vendors deliver expected services and products.
  • Oversees construction/project management for all building construction, facilities changes, furniture reconfigurations and major repairs in both the data center and the office environment.
  • Contributes to long-term planning related to the data centers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and six years experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC systems or building automation systems, including one year in a supervisory role
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, or training may be considered.

Additional Requirements/Preferences

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical system blueprints and drawings.
  • IT knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to lift/move items - manually or with assistance/equipment - weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
