Description

This is professional administrative staff work assisting the Interpreter Program Administrator in administering the testing program for statewide certification of interpreters. Responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations and scheduling associated with all facets of test administration, applications, organization, proctoring, rating, and record keeping. Work is performed under limited supervision, displaying considerable initiative and independence.

Primary Duties

  • Coordinates all arrangements concerning the testing of candidates for statewide certification.
  • Receives and processes candidate applications and assures compliance with all testing program requirements.
  • Schedules and organizes all arrangements related to testing dates, venues, and personnel.
  • Secures and trains proctors, raters, and supervisors for testing sessions and cycles.
  • Supervises testing sessions and guarantees security of testing instruments.
  • Implements testing policies in accordance with applicable requirements and regulations.
  • Maintains and updates information on statewide roster of interpreters and distributes information to counties.
  • Maintains records and keeps track of certified interpreters’ compliance with continuing education requirements.
  • Organizes and attends to all matters related to the virtual and in-person orientation and skill-building workshops, including participating as an instructor and preparing materials.
  • Coordinates processing of certification renewals and issuing certification credentials.
  • Assists judicial districts with all interpreter-related matters.
  • Responds to inquiries about program policies and requirements.
  • Assists program administrator in outreach efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Judicial, Business or Public Administration, or closely related field; AND
  • Two years of experience in court interpreter management or three years of varied office management work.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and / or training may be considered.

Additional Requirements/Preferences

  • Satisfactory criminal background check required.
  • Strong oral and written communication, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Travel throughout Pennsylvania required.
  • Certified court interpreter preferred.
