Description
This professional administrative position assists the Coordinator for Court Access in coordinating the policies and procedures, management, and implementation of the Language Access Program throughout the Commonwealth.
Primary Duties
- Supports the establishment of the pilot Video Remote Interpreting program in collaboration with Interpreter Certification Program staff.
- Assists with the monitoring, evaluation, and annual verification of data regarding provision of language access services by judicial districts. Compiles periodic ad hoc and annual reports for Unified Judicial System (UJS) personnel.
- Researches and drafts grant applications to maintain or expand funding resources, and monitors compliance with grant requirements.
- Assists in management of statewide translation projects, and posting and distribution of translated court forms and other materials, including participating in translation committee meetings, working with translation vendors, and coordinating with AOPC/IT.
- Tracks language access complaint information and compiles semi-annual and annual reports summarizing complaints and resolutions thereof.
- Identifies and initiates outreach to agencies that serve limited English proficient, and deaf and hard of hearing individuals, as well as to university language programs.
- Assists the Coordinator for Court Access in developing and presenting training programs.
- Assists with monitoring compliance by judicial districts with statewide language access program, including reviewing data collected concerning use of interpreters.
- Assists the Coordinator for Court Access in responding to questions from the local and appellate courts on compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act in court-provided services, programs, and activities.
- Researches new methods and technologies to provide language access services.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; AND
- Three years of professional analytical work in program development and administration.
- An equivalent combination of education, experience, and / or training may be considered.
Additional Requirements/Preferences
- Satisfactory criminal background check required.
- Experience in court access operations preferred.
- Experience in language access and ADA preferred.
- Basic fluency in foreign language or American Sign Language preferred.
