The position is responsible for planning, developing, facilitating, and evaluating an ongoing skill-based curriculum for trial judges throughout the Commonwealth. The Judicial Education Specialist leads and coordinates all phases of the design, delivery, and presentation.
- Designs and develops skill-based curriculum using current educational practices and established adult learning theories for delivery to trial judges statewide.
- Identifies content experts, facilitates content development, designs program plans, identifies and recruits faculty.
- Researches skill-based topics in various publications and electronic databases; identifies trends and events that may be of interest to the Judiciary.
- Directs/manages the preparation for programs.
- Interacts/collaborates with judges, faculty, and institutional partners regarding programs and content. Customizes approach to meet participants' needs.
- Responsible for ensuring all program logistics are satisfied and course details are communicated to participants.
- Conducts pre- and post-assessments, and refreshes course content at regular intervals.
- Remains current with training concepts, trends, and technology.
- Provides reports on training effectiveness to include evaluation, analysis and recommendations.
- Graduation from an ABA-approved school of law and two years of professional experience creating educational programs; or
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional experience creating educational programs.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and / or experience may be considered.
- Admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania preferred.
- Occasional overnight statewide travel required. Valid driver’s license required.
- Satisfactory criminal background check required.
